Marcellin OCSC (Seniors) 2-1 West Preston

Goalscorers: N. Waters, E. Ozdemir

A very heated encounter at the Marcellin College saw the home side take their first 3 points for the season. A renewed confidence was found after a formidable display against Mill Park from the week before and it showed it the opening half - a true arm wrestle for possession. Our men stood their ground constantly, up against a very strong and solid outfit in West Preston.

Two very quick and stunning goals would be enough for Marcellin to take the points home. Nick Waters was able to bury his shot into the roof of the net from the top of the box after he pounced on a poor clearance.

The men took no further chances and went in hunt for another - Eren "Salt Bae" Ozdemir proved just that with a tremendous effort from medium distance, bending it up and over the keeper.

West Preston threw the kitchen sink at the Marcellin defence in order to equalise, but our seniors did more than enough. The afternoon was somewhat soured as Matthew Nicastri was sent off for a second yellow. Although it did little to deter away from a fantastic result.

We travel to Thornbury next week to take on top of the table, Northern Falcons in State League 4 version of Monday Night Football.
